Rt. W.Bro. Michael John Gutteridge was installed as the Provincial Grand Master of Nottinghamshire in the Mark Degree on 29th March at the Masonic Hall , Nottingham.

The Pro: Grand Master, M.W.Bro.John Hale Installed the new Provincial Grand Master, assisted by the Grand Director of Ceremonies, W.Bro. Michael Masters and six other Grand Lodge Officers.

Rt.W.Bro. Gutteridge then Appointed and Invested W.Bro.Terence Desmond Ward PAGSwdB, as the Deputy Provincial Grand Master.

The Provincial Grand Master announced the appointment of Brethren to Provincial Grand Lodge confirming that they are to be Invested at a special meeting in May.

The Provincial Grand Master addressed Provincial Grand Lodge. Within the oration he stated his wish for greater emphasis on Charity with the formation of a charity committee under the direction of the Deputy P.G. M. He hoped for improved communication within the Province assisted by the use of the Nottinghamshire Mason Website, appointing the Prov.G Charity Steward to lead this work.

The Ceremony was attended by 287 Mark Brethren. There were 40 distinguished guests from other Provinces, amongst which were 18 Rt.W.Provincial Grand Masters. It was the largest gathering of Provincial Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons since its formation 124 years ago,and the most number ever assembled in the Ionic Temple.

The Festive Board was attended by 241 brethren. There was an engaging address by the Pro. Grand Master M. W. Bro Hale and an appropriate and amusing response by the Provincial Grand Master.

Personal gifts were then exchanged.

So ended a truly wonderous and exhilerating day for the new P.G.M , the Mark Masons of Nottinghamshire and for what is often described as the " Happy Degree of Freemasonry."
