The Saturday Singers is a mixed choir of around 65 men and women that meets on saturday mornings in the Ionic Dining room at Goldsmith Street. Obviously, as a mixed choir, it is not exclusively a Masonic Choir but freemasons are most welcome to participate, (we are always on the look out for good tenors and basses)
The choir gives two concerts each year and 100% of the proceeds are donated to local charities. The Christmas 2006 Concert, held in the Ionic Dining Room, raised the sum of £1000 for Rainbows Childrens Hospice.
The next concert will be held on Saturday 28th April commencing at 10.15am and will be in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care.
Tickets are £4 and can be obtained from W Bro Dick Huskinson, Chairman of the Choir and Secretary of Commercial Lodge No 411, telephone 0115 931 2157. Alternatively, tickets can be bought on the door at the event. Tickets are limited to 220 for fire safety reasons and you are urged to book in advance if at all possible.
Why not come along to the concert, bring your lady and friends and stay for lunch in the Belgrave Suite afterwards. This is a good way to support local charities and also to enjoy a morning of light hearted entertainment. Publicity regarding the choir is also good publicity for the Masonic Hall and, hence, for masonry as a whole.
