Mansfield Manor Mark 654 Festive Board celebrate St Georges Day
Mansfield Manor Mark Lodge, following the April Lodge meeting, celebrated St Georges Day at a special Festive Board. Of course, at the same time the Mark business was conducted with the usual correctness.
To the strains and the singing of Elgars Pomp and Circumstance - Land of Hope and Glory, the Flag of England was held aloft fby W.Bro Peter Pickering
Following in ritulistic procession were brethren supporting a dressed `hogs head ,and a pitcher of local ale
The Ensign circumnavigated the assembled brethren and guests. Finally, in what has become a tradition, the Ensign, Head of the Hog and Ale were presented to the Worshipful Master W Bro Peter Allan.
The menu for the feast consisted of : Ye olde Ox Tail souppe : Roast Hog of Sherwood Forest: Spotted George and Custarde, followed by Cheeses of olde England. During the celebration music of a patriotic nature was piped for the enjoyment of the brethren.
Those present to a total of 47 members and guests were each presented with scrolls of the history of St George and specially printed Menu cards.
All in all a good time was said to be had by everyone. Somewhat different to the ever popular Burns nights.
