Nottinghamshire Mark Masons celebrated 3 events in 8 days in June
1) Grand Mark Lodge On Tuesday 12th June Mark Masons from Nottinghamshire travelled to London to attend the Annual Investiture meeting at Great Queen Street. Some were to receive honours and a number supporting them on what was a day of great importance to them.
Twenty Brethren travelled by train from Nottingham, this journey always beginning the in affable style. The Most Worshipful Pro Grand Master, John Hale, Presided in the absence of The Most Worshipful Grand Master Prince Michael of Kent.
The following Brethren were Promoted and received first Grand Lodge Appointments. Following the reception and Dinner, the party returned to Nottingham well satisfied that the day had been enjoyed by all.
2) Nottinghamshire Mark Honours Banquet. On Friday June 15th, Brethren and their Ladies assembled at the Masonic Hall, West Bridgford. The occasion was to celebrate the honours awarded to members of the Mark Degree and the Fraternity of Royal Ark Mariners.
The customary superb meal was provided by the Hall staff, following which the Provincial Grand Master Rt. W Bro M J Gutteridge, who Presided, delivered a short address welcoming those present and thanking them for attending the annual occasion of the Honours Banquet.
Ever mindful of making the event perhaps more appealing and different, he thought a "weekend Away" say at York or Harrogate might be of interest. He would welcome opinions on this or any other ideas.
3) Arthur Morley Custance Lodge of Installed Masters. No 1808. The A M C Lodge. No 1808 met on Thursday June 19th in the Ionic Temple, Goldsmith Streeet. In attendance at the Installation ceremony was the Provincial Grand Master Rt. W Bro Michael. John Gutteridge.
Following the opening of the Lodge the Provincial Grand Master entered the Lodge in Procession escorted by Officers of Grand Mark Lodge and Provincial Grand Mark Lodge and was cordially welcomed by the Worshipful Master W. Bro Reginald H Green.
Then followed the Installation of the Master Elect, W.Bro. Revd John. M Burgess. and the Appointment and investiture of the Senior Warden V W Bro D G R Lovett and Junior Warden W. Bro. Revd David. E Bennett. The Lodge Officers were Appointed and the appropriate Addesses followed according to Custom.
The Ritual was exemplary as was anticipated from a Lodge often described as the Premier Mark Lodge of the Province. The usual format and pleasantries wer followed at the Festive Board.
