THE MASONIC LADIES LUNCHEON CLUB
# By Jean Dibb on 11th July, 2007
The luncheon Club meets on the third Monday of each month except August.
Members gather at Goldsmith Street at 10.30am for coffee and a chat, and at alternate meetings a speaker entertains until lunch, for which the menu is varied, a hot and a cold option always being available.
In January, Margaret Harrison, a Blue Badge Nottingham Guide who is a very popular speaker came to talk to us. Unfortunately she was held up by the barrier at the car park entrance which came down too quickly for her to get through, and she had to wait for one of our kind ladies to let her in! So busy was she on that day - she had been speaking elsewhere in the morning, to us at lunchtime, and she had an afternoon appointment too. Nevertheless she gave us an interesting talk about "Happenings" during each month of the year, past and present.
Roy Tomlinson gave us another thought provoking morning with his talk about celebrities he had known and worked with.
In June I hope I amused everyone with anecdotes about what I did when not teaching - out of school activities, jumble sales, country dancing, netball matches etc...
In September Ann Lee who is a seasoned Cruiser will be giving us an insight into days at sea (and ashore).
October will find us being entertained with a few witty poems and jokes, some audience participation, and a cake stall.
Katie is coming in November to show and sell some jewellery just in time for Christmas - modern but very pretty.
December will see Joan Pratt demonstrating her expertise in flower arranging and showing us how we should be doing it ourselves, to make our homes beautiful for the Festive Season.
