The Nottinghamshire Masonic Bowling Association

The Association continues to thrive and is doing very well as far as results have gone this year. This years President, Glynn Tabreham, is enjoying his year and is leading from the front in what could be a winning year in the annual inter Province competition. Currently we have won 3 matches in the Sidney Brown series with just the away game in Leicestershire left to play. The Trophy is all but ours.

The Association has had only two cancellations this year the last one being the re-arranged match against Gloucestershire, which we were due to play in mid August. Gloucestershire could not raise a large enough team and have had to pull out. This is becoming a problem with travelling teams for the average age of bowlers continues to rise and some are now getting a little reluctant to travel. The Horton Young Trophy this year was played at Wilford Bowls Club and the eventual winners were John Broadley and Keith Buckley. In the Seaton Trophy played at Wilford in July it was a team consisting of Glynn Tabreham (President) Dennis Dring and Derek Oakley who were successful.

The earlier rounds of the Hargrove are currently being played around the County and the final of the competition will be played at Wilford Bowls Club on the 12th September.

The Association is always looking for new players and if you feel that you would not only enjoy the comradeship, friendship and banter, but the sport, get in touch for the Association. We would love to assist you to develop into a County champion. Next years program is already being organised and there will be more friendly matches arranged in an effort to provide a little more opportunity for the beginner.
