Donation to Motor Neurone Disease Association - Lincs Branch
W. Bro Andrew Black and W. Bro David Foster recently organised a charity function to raise funds for the Lincolnshire Branch of the Motor Neurone Disease Association.
Galway Lodge Master gave permission to hold a Summer ball instead of the Lodges usual Ladies night to help raise funds for research and support of people with Motor Neurone Disease, which had recently taken the life of a very dear friend and fellow Brother of ours Bro Bill Dewey and also a Brother from our own Lodge Bro Roland Kenton.
The function was supported well from the Province and all were well entertained by the guest speaker Mr Peter Wheeler, Chief Executive of the Liecester Tigers and the most capped Lions hooker who talked of his playing experiences interposed with some very humorous anecdotes.
Mr Gordon Hickmore, the Chairman of the Lincolnshire Branch for the Motor neurone Disease association gave a small talk relating to the disease and was presented with a cheque for £15,000 by the widow of the late Bro Bill Dewey the proceeds of the evening with a further £1,000 going to our own Lodge funds.
In total £16,000 was raised which was a magnificent effort by our fellow Brothers and also several businesses – Well done and thank you all.
