NOSTALGIC 1940’s NIGHT
On Saturday 16th February 2008 about eighty Brethren and their partners attended a night of Glen Miller, sand bags & air raid sirens at Mansfield Masonic Hall.
Most of the people attending got into the swing of things by being in nineteen-forties fancy dress, everyone from black marketeers, spivs, land girls, warps, French resistance, RAF, Army, US army, Royal Navy and an SS Nazi officer.
We enjoyed an evening of nineteen-forties music, pie chips and peas and dancing until midnight only interrupted by a fund raising raffle and the odd air raid siren were the order was to get under the table as quickly as possible.(!!!)
A good night had by all even those who were fraternising with the enemy.
Congratulation to those Brethren, who organised it, we look forward to the next one.
