SERVICES AT SOUTHWELL

PROVINCIAL THANKSGIVING SERVICE JULY 2008

This year’s service will be held at Southwell on 30th July, when the preacher will be The Very Rev Neil Collings, who, as Dean of St. Emundsbury Cathedral, is the most senior Masonic clergyman in the Church of England. He is also the 3rd Grand Principal in the Royal Arch.

Not surprisingly, the authorities at Southwell require this service to be a Christian service; but the Provincial Grand Master is particularly keen that brethren, their families and friends of all faiths should feel most welcome to attend. And, to demonstrate that Freemasonry comprises men of all religions and faiths, he proposes this year to hold an additional Service of Thanksgiving, which will contain contributions from several different faiths represented among our members. Plans are still in the process of being completed, but he expects that this will be held in Nottingham sometime later in the year.

The Provincial Grand Master hopes that both these services will be well supported, and that all Brethren will feel able to attend at least one of them (and hopefully both) whatever their own individual religion may be.
