The Supreme Council of the Antient and Accepted Rite have been pleased to promote nine Nottinghamshire Brethren to the Higher Degrees. At a ceremony in Duke Street, London, Ill Bros David Green and Eric Saxton received their 31⁰, and Ill Brn. Malcolm Shelmerdine, Tony Arundel, Ken Hardwick, Phil Perkins, Lee Southern and Michael Westwood their 30⁰. All had made a significant contribution to the Order. It was sad that Ill Bro Ernest Marshall, also promoted to the 30⁰ was unable to travel to London due to his incapacity, resultant from a stroke. The Supreme Council directed that the Degree may be conferred by the Inspector General, V Ill Bro Graham Aitken 33⁰ at Bro Marshall’s home in Worksop, and a delegation from Radford Gate Chapter attended the presentation. Mrs Olive Marshall prepared a delightful buffet and Bro Ernest responded to the occasion with excitement, despite his unfortunate inability to communicate easily. We congratulate all these Brethren on the high honour of their new rank and especially wish Bro Ernest a speedy return to better health.
