The Provincial Grand Mark Lodge of Nottinghamshire
Bill`s Guessing Game
A number of Brethren from the Nottinghamshire Lodges joined in the above enterprise.
It was a means by which we may be made aware of W Bro Bill Bristow`s experience in trekking the foothills of Everest. In addition it was a method by which brethren may have a little fun and also help to raise funds for the Notts Mark Benevolent Fund.
Chilwell Mark Lodge held its Annual Luncheon at the Masonic Hall, Long Eaton on Sunday March 9th. Bill and his wife Carol were invited to give a short resume of their experience. W Bro Bill was sadly seriously affected by altitude sickness and was disappointed with his climb and only reached 11,520 feet, although his wife with great fortitude attained a height of 18,000 feet.
In respect to the Guessing Game, it is Bills Climb that must count. Bro C Harding of Bassetlaw Mark Lodge Lodge who guessed 11,507 feet and Bro A E Abbott of St Marys Craft Lodge 11,503 feet were worthy winners. Bill supplied the prizes which were bona fide Sherpa woollen knitted hats.
Other winners were an entry from Shelford Priory Mark Lodge and also Stella and John who entered just prior to the declaration
The gathering of brethren, their ladies and guests were pleased to meet with the Provincial Grand Master R. W: Bro Michael Gutteridge and Mrs Bristow presented him with a memento of the occasion - a Sherpa Hat .
On behalf of the Charity, I would like to thank all the brethren who took part in the “game” and as a result some £200.00 was presented to the Notts Mark Benevolent Fund.
Thank you.
