At least five Nottinghamshire brethren are involved in Nottinghamshire Police Aid Convoys. Most of them are to be trustees of this charity when it becomes registered. The charity which had its beginnings during the conflict following the breaking up of the former Yugoslavia and is still delivering much needed aid to the Balkan states. However, the emphasis is now on Albania, Bulgaria and Zambia. Indeed 4 x 40 tonne articulated lorries filled with essential supplies put together by the charity have just landed in Albania today the 11th of April. The lorries are all being driven by NPAC volunteers.

You may not be aware but a series of massive explosions occurred near Tirana the capital of Albania on March 15th. Many were killed and many more were injured many homes were destroyed and many more damaged. The livelihoods of many of the peasant farmers have disappeared by the death of their livestock. The explosions were heard 100 miles away. This impoverished country is finding it hard to cope with the treatment and ongoing care of those affected.

NPAC has responded and the much needed hospital equipment, clothing, bedding, household goods, emergency water kits and other items will soon be distributed. Many of the volunteers of the charity have paid their own way to Tirana to help in the distribution of the donated goods.

Every last bit of space is filled by much needed goods.

If you would like to get involved with this charity you can find further information on the NPAC website www.npac.org.uk
