Pinner Lodge Centenary Celebrations
# By W. Bro. P. W. J. Elvin, P. Pr. JGW on 30th June, 2008, in Events
Pinner Lodge No 3300 was officially 100 years old on 20th June 2008 and to mark this event, the Lodge held its Centenary Celebrations at the Nottingham University Club on Saturday 28th June 2008 in the presence of the Provincial Grand Master, Rt. W. Bro. R. K. Wilson accompanied by his wife, Margaret. Other senior members from the Province were the Assistant Provincial Grand Master, W. Bro. J. S. B. Mather and his wife; the Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies, W. Bro. Graham Wood and his wife, and the Provincial Grand Scribe E, W. Bro. Bill Robbins and his wife. A sparkling wine reception greeted the Lodge members and guests at 5.30pm accompanied by a melody of music from the Rolls Royce Brass Band on the lawn of the University Club.
The Lodge members had elected to donate sums of money to three well known local charities in the amounts of £3300 each, that figure being the Lodge's number on the register of Grand Lodge, to mark the milestone in its history. Over the past 100 years, Pinner Lodge has made donations to many significant charity appeals, to name but just one, the Titanic disaster in 1912, when the Lodge was just four years old. Representatives from the MacMillan Cancer Support; Cancer Research and the Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance were in attendance to receive the gifts from the Provincial Grand Master. The photograph shows the PGM handing over one of the cheques to Sir Edward Nall of the MacMillan Cancer Support. Also included in the picture is Mrs. Margaret Wilson and the WM, Bro. Ken Lawmon.
The other recipients were Val Homer from Cancer Research and Jeanette Bird from the Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance.
