As many may remember from my first editorial within Nottinghamshire Mason fishing is my pursuit of mine and I made reference to the fact that I hoped to set up perhaps a Nottinghamshire Provincal competition or Inter-province competition but the response was poor given what I consider is the hub of the best seat of fish learning – the Trent and the Midlands
I was invited last Saturday to the West Yorkshire Province Annual fishing competition organised by W Bro Brian Lawless at Carpvale, Moor Monkton, near York. I duly arrived on Friday with my wife Joan and we spent a pleasant day sight seeing and a little shopping around York followed by the big day in what can only be described as “horrendous” conditions. My wife finished the day wetter than the fish!!!
The event commenced by a barbeque breakfast and Brian reports that: “The final total raised net of all costs is £930.00 which is a record for us, as was having 68 anglers take part. The total raised will cover the costs of MTSFC taking 18 handicapped kids fishing”
The photograph shows Brian and the vast array of donated prizes on offer for the raffle.
I also discussed the possibility of a Inter-province competition/battle again and Brian was very eager to organise a team from his Province. SO – where are the skilful Nottinghamshire Masonic Anglers and their friends or even those from Leicestershire/Derbyshire Province who might enable battle to commence next summer 2009.
