Thoresby Lodge 3106 Donation to Notts/LIncs Air Ambulance

Accompanying photo

On Tuesday 1st July 2008, W. Bro. Derek Pratt, Master of the Lodge 2007-2008, and accompanied by SW Peter Olko had much pleasure in presenting to the Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire Air Ambulance the sum of £500 as Derek's nominated Charity.

This was of special significance to me – Peter – because it was nearly 4 years to the day, that I needed their speedy services and those of the local Fire Brigade following a motorcycle accident. Their swift response enabled me to be taken to QMC in the minimum of time and my injuries stabilised at the scene without which I have no doubt I would not be here. What followed was an enjoyable (?) six weeks in hospital and many months of recovery.

We had a long and lengthy conversation with the local fund raiser who briefed us thoroughly on the operation of the service which is funded entirely by donations, this includes the helicopter costs, the pilots, servicing, headquarter staff and premises etc., enabling the service to operate every day during daylight hours.

So to fellow bikers, if you are going to come off in a big way do it whilst it is still light.

I would also close by thanking all members of Thoresby Lodge and their guests/friends whose generosity made the donation possible.
