Pinner Lodge 3300 perform a Triple Initiation ceremony
# By W Bro PWJ Elvin, P Pr JGW on 26th September, 2008, in Events
Pinner Lodge No 3300 in the Province of Nottinghamshire had the distinct fortune and pleasure of performing a Triple Initiation ceremony in the Ionic Temple at The Masonic Hall, Goldsmith Street, Nottingham, on Saturday 20th September 2008. This unique event had its origin during a conversation at last year's Ladies Festival thus starting the sequence of events which culminated in the Initiation. When the question was asked of the three men as to whether they had considered becoming Freemasons, the reply came "We haven't been asked." The rest, as they say, is history.
Serious discussions took place thereafter at various committees to bring about this event. A man's Initiation into Freemasonry is a very personal and meaningful ceremony and so to have three men being Initiated at the same time would have removed that feeling of individuality. The strong case for the ceremony was the fact that all three men worked together, socialised together and took holidays together and for these reasons, the Lodge committee voted in favour. Thus started the monumentous task of putting all the pieces together to make the evening a success. The WM Bro Ken Lawmon and W Bro Jim Lowe worked tirelessly on the choreography, even to the point of producing a scaled down Ionic Temple flooring with which to illustrate to all involved what was required of each Brother. The Lodge Secretary W Bro Chris Hazard read out the Special Dispensations from the Provincial Grand Master granting the Lodge permission to hold a Special Meeting and to perform the Triple Initiation. The photograph shows the number of Brethren needed to fulfil the task.
