There is an organisation set up in Hertfordshire, by a Grand Lodge Officer, known as the Hertfordshire Wanderers who visit lodges both overseas and in the UK. The link to them was via Rose and Lily Mark Lodge 354 and this led to 2 members of Radcliffe Lodge W.Bro Graham Riche and W.Bro John Bassford with their wives joining 13 other masons and their wives on a visit to Vienna for the installation Meeting of Sarastro Lodge.
The Mark `Travelling Gavel` Visiting encouraged.

The Travelling Gavel has been introduced as a unique method by which Mark Masons in Nottinghamshire can be encouraged to visit other Lodges in fraternal friendship. Visiting is oft described as a most pleasant aspect and life blood of Masonry. This was proven at a regular lodge meeting of Ashfield Mark No 1146, the holders of the Gavel ,held at the Masonic hall Mansfield on the evening of November 10th.

St Giles Lodge of Instruction cheque to Notts Police Aid Convoy

On Thursday 13th November 2008 the St Giles Lodge of Instruction presented a cheque for £250 to the Nottinghamshire Police Aid Convoys honorary treasurer Bro. Peter Barratt, the Senior Warden of Edwalton Lodge 8214.
Mansfield Charity Stewards Support Ride 4 Life Charity
Mansfield Charity Stewards annual Swimathon held at the Mansfield Water Meadows Leisure Centre on the 18th March 2008 raised £4011.00 in support of the Ride 4 Life initiative, which was set up in memory of young local boy Liam Doherty, who contracted Leukemia and died during the year.
A memorial service for the life of John Frederick Mortimer will be held on Thursday 27th November at 11.30 a.m. at St. Andrews with Castlegate, Goldsmith Street, Nottingham.
Nottinghamshire Widows and Sons join "Ride to the Wall"
A contingent of Masonic Widows and Sons Motorcyclists, including those from Nottinghamshire attended the Remembrance Day service at the National Memorial Arboretum near Burton on Trent on 11th October 2008.

Thoresby Lodge 3106 - Cheque Presentation

At “The Lodge Officers Dinner” for Thoresby Lodge No. 3106, recently organised by W.M Bro David Cattermole and his wife Liz, a Cheque for £500 was presented to Mrs Pam Smith, (right of David)Treasurer of the Derby Breast Cancer Support Group. The money was raised through a Sunset Evening dinner trip on the Trent Lady, courtesy of Paul Davey.
Freemasonry Today unearths Newark's masonic secrets
Following a throw-away comment at the annual meeting of the Masonic Libraries and Museums Group held in Great Queen Street in September, the editor of Freemasonry Today and esteemed author Michael Baigent MA, accompanied by their roving reporter and professional masonic speaker Yasha Beresiner expressed an interest in visiting the Newark Masonic Hall museum with a view to doing an article for their quarterly publication.
