Improvements at Chilwell Masonic Hall

On Sunday, 5th October the Provincial Grand Master officially opened the refurbished bar and lounge at Chilwell Masonic Hall.

The Provincial Grand Master, R.W.Bro Robin Wilson in his address said ‘the transformation had been remarkable’. A complimentary buffet and subsidized bar was enjoyed by the 120 guests. A raffle raised £642.00 for the Hall Building Fund.

During the summer recess the old bar was completely dismantled, internal studding walls and doors were removed increasing the lounge area to twice its original size. A modern more efficient bar and entrance lobby built, and the area has been completely redecorated. New carpeting, lighting, leather chairs and lounge tables have all been purchased. Folding oak doors have been fitted between the lounge and dining room enabling the whole area to be opened up for social functions.

The work was completed in a twelve week period in the summer mainly by the Hall Chairman, W.Bro David Hobson and W.Bro. Keith Frampton, Hall Treasurer. Our thanks to joiners, electricians and the plumber, for hanging doors, fitting new lights, and refitting the radiators.

W.Bro. David Hobson, remarked that since the appointment of a new catering manager the quality of the meals have improved dramatically and the varied selection of quality wines at exceptional prices makes Chilwell fantastic value for money. The very popular monthly Sunday Lunches at £ 10.00 / head are becoming over subscribed - some diners booking for 3 months in advance!

It is hoped that the new facilities will enhance the building for existing Lodges and attract additional outside business and encourage Lodges to return to Chilwell. The Hall is available for hire for both Masonic & Non-Masonic functions. Details are available from Hall Secretary W.Bro. Ron Mitchell on 07971452720
