Mansfield Charity Stewards Support Ride 4 Life Charity
Mansfield Charity Stewards annual Swimathon held at the Mansfield Water Meadows Leisure Centre on the 18th March 2008 raised £4011.00 in support of the Ride 4 Life initiative, which was set up in memory of young local boy Liam Doherty, who contracted Leukemia and died during the year.
His family and friends raised £26,794 including the Charity Stewards £4011.00, which was shared equally between the Anthony Nolan Trust, Leukemia Research and The Child Oncology Department at the Queens Medical Centre Nottingham. Pictured is Bro Brian Jepson - Charity Steward of de Sutton Lodge, who is handing over the cheque on behalf of The Mansfield Charity Stewards to Liams father- Brendan Doherty at the culmination of the Ride 4Life initiative at the Farnsfield Cricket Club on the 4th october, when representatives of the three charities were present to receive the donations.
