Wet and Windy Wilford Raises £3,500
# By W. Bro Stanley Harding on 17th January, 2009, in Site News Letters

Peter Olko, Editor - as any of you may know, Freemasons from Nottingham assisted in the Robin Hood marathon last year, to assist Clic Sargent. The Bonfire at Wilford last year was no exception also with, according to W.M Stanley Harding, five masons attending that function. Please read the information below which details the "Bonfire" and also outlines some future events if you would like to volunteer.
Start of letter....
Hi guys (please pass this onto anyone who came with you)
I just wanted to let you all know the good news: Wilford, despite the horrendous weather, raised £3,500 for CLIC Sargent. I think this is a fantastic donation from the Rotary Club of Trent Bridge who were significantly down on their usual numbers attending the event and hence struggled to make as much as usual from the bonfire.
You are all to thank for this donation. Without your support on the night (and in some cases the day before and after!) we wouldn't have been chosen as the main charity for this year's event, so thank you ever so much for your time (especially when one look outside that night and I wouldn't have blamed you for not coming!).
Anyway, I hope you've all thawed out now and dried up and are excited as I am for Christmas. Just so you know we will be looking for volunteers again for 2009 in Notts for the Robin Hood Marathon (marshalling on the day:13th Sept and goody bag stuffing during the week before: 9th Sept) and the QMC Abseil (date TBC, likely to be the 3rd May, looking for people to help out on the day with registering people, walking them to the abseil site and thanking them at the bottom, or indeed if you fancy a go yourself, let me know!). Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Dee
