Chilwell Masonic Hall - Annual General Meeting.

The Annual General Meeting for Chilwell Masonic Hall and Club were held on Wednesday, 22nd April 2009. In his opening remarks Hall Chairman, W.Bro. David Hobson, welcomed all those present and went on to review the past year in which major improvements had taken place at a cost of just £ 18,000.00. These changes have resulted in increased bookings for both Masonic and non masonic functions. The food provided by our Hall caterer David Bramley, is appreciated for its quality at both formal functions and social events with menu’s available to suit all tastes. The arrival of W. Bro. Stephen Swinn as Bar manager has also added a new dimension to the ambience of the Club.

The Chairman also outlined future plans for the continued improvements of the facilities at Chilwell, and received approval for additional spending to achieve this end.

Hall Treasurer, W.Bro. Keith Frampton, reported that Bar income had increased by 50% year on year and projected that with the increase in bookings income will grow by a similar amount in the current year. This growth will enable us to maintain Temple rents at their current level of £ 7.50 for the foreseeable future. The accounts were presented and approved by the membership. W.Bro. Frampton expressed his thanks to W.Bro. Roland Malkin for his assistance in producing the accounts.

In closing, the Chairman thanked all members of the Hall Committee for their continued support. W.Bro. Ron Mitchell, the retiring secretary, was thanked for his work over the last four years and presented him with a set of engraved Whisky tumblers in appreciation. The newly elected Secretary, W.Bro. David Bussey was also welcomed onto the Hall Executive Committee.

The A.G.M of the Chilwell Masonic Benevolent Association was held prior to the Hall and Club meetings. W.Bro David Bussey was appointed Secretary. It was also reported that in excess of £ 5,200.00 had been distributed by the C.M.B.A. in the previous year.
