Nottinghamshire Masonic Ladies - Saturday Morning Group.
Nottinghamshire Masonic Ladies Associate Members. Saturday Morning Group.
The Annual General Meeting at our March meeting was followed by Margaret Earley, who gave an excellent talk and demonstration of the hats in her millinery collection. Through her work with the Women’s Section of The Royal British Legion, Margaret has to attend events which require her to wear a hat. The Women’s Section hold hat stall sales for their members, donated by Dowager Duchesses and milliners who design hats for cat walk models. Margaret regularly attends these sales and as we viewed her many purchases, we saw hat boxes open to a wide range of styles, colours and textiles.
As ‘models’ paraded around the room showing the many creations, Margaret related the event when each hat was worn.
We thanked Margaret for bringing her beautiful ‘Hats Galore’ collection to our meeting we were pleased to make a donation to the Women’s Section of The Royal British Legion.
It was then our members turn to parade their own hats and recount the stories associated with them. A black Cossack hat had to be purchased on a bitterly cold day in St Petersburg, another for a Buckingham Palace Garden Party, a daughter’s Graduation Day and many more. A huge thank you to all those who made this a very enjoyable morning.
Membership of the Ladies Group is open to ladies whose husbands / partners are members of the Masonic Club. Widows of former Club members are also welcome.
