Walesby Forest Lodge No. 9674 Open Evening
# By W.M. Howard Parker on 3rd August, 2009
The Walesby Forest Lodge No. 9674, held an ‘Open’ meeting in June, at the 1st Redhill Scout & Guide Group Headquarters.
After the lodge was closed, the ladies and non Masonic guests were invited to join the brethren for a talk on “Masonic Donations to Charity”. This was given by W. Bro. Bill Lawrenson who gave details of donations being given by the Grand Charity to Scouting nationally and donations by the Province to the Walesby Forest Scout Camp. Particular reference was made upon identifying the needs of local Scouting and ways in which Masonry could assist. The talk was very well received by all those present.
Prior to the talk, W. Bro. Tony Harvey gave a brief explanation of the significance of the lodge furniture on view which the guests found most interesting. The Worshipful Master, Bro. Howard Parker, added the Latin wording on the lodge banner was the nearest translation to the scout motto “Be Prepared”.
Afterwards the brethren and their guests retired to the nearby Wagon & Horses for a very enjoyable buffet lunch.
