In July the Walesby Forest Lodge No.9674 held a Summer Outing to the Midland Railway Centre at Butterley, Ripley, Derbys. This was attended by a number of brethren together with their ladies and other guests to make a total party of 39 people.

The Worshipful Master, Bro. Howard Parker welcomed everyone aboard the “Walesby Forest Midlander Special” and an excellent Sunday lunch was enjoyed by all in the dining car pulled by an original BR steam engine. During the journey, W. Bro. Tony Harvey, Charity Steward, had arranged a raffle which raised £122 towards the lodge Relief Chest.

Afterwards the party were able to view the many exhibits displayed in the museums at Swanwick Junction. Unfortunately the weather was not very kind – there were several heavy downpours during the day but nevertheless the outing was very much enjoyed by all those who attended.

The next social event is a Festive Sunday lunch at Chilwell Masonic Hall on 13th December and the Ladies Evening will be held at West Bridgford Masonic Hall on 20th February 2010.
