5 Day Easter trip & Lodge Spey 527, Kingussie .

Supported by representatives of 35 Lodges in all, 20 Masons, wives and friends travelled to Kingussie for 5 Days at Easter. Staying at the Duke of Gordon, a short walk to the bottom of the car park saw the happy band entering the Lodge Spey Masonic Hall. Useful after the Harmony that followed the meeting consisting of Sandwiches and several bottles of Malt Whiskey. The Lodge performed a Second Degree Ceremony and Specially for the Occasion the Deputy Provincial Grand Master travelled all the way from the Isle of Skye to greet us. The Lodge Spey Presented a Water Colour of the Area and a Quaish both inscribed. Carnarvon Lodge Secretary Martin White who organised the trip presented Spey Lodge with a Cut Glass Decanter suitably filled with Malt, on the understanding that they could only keep it if it was emptied on the night. They suitably complied. This was accompanied by an album with copies of all of the Banners of the Lodges represented. A further trip is being organised by W.Bro.White for the 3rd to the 7th of December 2009. A party of 55 are going.

The planning for this year’s Nottinghamshire Bowling Association’s tour started way back in August of 2008. There were several constraints placed on me as the organiser that did cause anguish with the early choice of venue. There had to be a suitable night club within yards of the hotel for the party goers. Beer had to be less than £1.50 a pint. these were only two of a long list of “desirables.”

At a recent TLC event an auction prize of a mornings clay pigeon shooting was kindly donated by the Thrumpton Clay Pigeon Shooting Club and after an enthusiastic auction, energetically facilitated by W.Bro Graham Riche, the privilege of the two prizes were won by W. Bro John Gibson and Mrs Carol Bassford, the wife of W.Bro John Bassford of Radcliffe Lodge.
