50 Year Certificate Presentation at Bramcote Lodge
At the Installation Ceremony of Bramcote Lodge No 8750 held on Thursday 12th November 2009, a certificate commemorating 50 years in Freemasonry was presented to W Bro Len Fenwick PPrGReg, L.G.R. by the Past Provincial Grand Master Rt W Bro Stewart Hill.
W Bro Fenwick was Initiated into Deucalion Lodge No 7511, a London lodge, in June 1959, subsequently becoming Worshipful Master in 1969 and then serving as Lodge Almoner until he moved to Nottingham in 1985. He continued his membership of Deucalion Lodge but then a chance meeting with a member of Bramcote Lodge led him to becoming a joining member in March 1996. W Bro Len became an active and popular member of Bramcote and within a couple of years had been appointed Almoner, an office he has held ever since with the exception of 1 year. That was in 2004 when he was invited to become Worshipful Master, enjoying a very busy and most successful year.
2009 has been a memorable year for W Bro Len, celebrating his 75th birthday and Golden Wedding Anniversary in addition to his 50 years in masonry. In fact a Provincial Ceremonial visit was arranged for Bramcote Lodge in September when the Provincial Grand Master Rt W Bro Robin Wilson was to present the 50 year Certificate but ill health prevented Len from attending.
Happily W Bro Fenwick had recovered sufficiently to attend the Installation and was absolutely delighted to receive his certificate from the PGM’s predecessor, Rt W Bro Hill who gave a most charming account of Len’s Masonic career before presenting it.
On the same evening Bramcote Lodge voted to donate £2500.00 to Masonic and non-masonic charities and cheques for £500.00 each for the Notts PGL Benevolent Fund and The New Masonic Samaritan Fund were presented to Rt W Bro Hill by the WM W Bro G A Halls. Other charities to receive donations included Haywood House hospice, Treetops hospice, British Heart Foundation, Alzheimers Society, Multiple Sclerosis Society, Beeston Boys Brigade, Boy Scouts (Notts SW Div) and Changing Faces.
