This committee was formed in 2007 for the purpose of honouring all the V.C's in Nottinghamshire, of which there are 20. The aim is to have a memorial similar to the one on the Somme Battlefield, at the Ulster Tower, and is of rough hewn granite polished and engraved on one side.

The site that has been chosen is in the Nottingham Castle Grounds.

Fund raising began with the launch of the Victoria Cross Exhibition at the Council House which is the same exhibition on display at Goldsmith Street. The cheque of £1000 received from the Nottingham Freemasons will be put towards this memorial.
