At the Regular Meeting of the Fleming Lodge of Mark Masters No. 265, held on Thursday 25th February, 2010, W. Bro. Carl Clifford celebrated the 50th Anniversary of his membership.

The Lodge was honoured on this occasion by the presence of the Rt. W. Provincial Grand Master for Nottinghamshire, Rt.W. Bro. Michael John Gutteridge and his Deputy W. Bro. Terence Desmond Ward together with 15 Active Officers of Provincial Grand Lodge and a total of ten Grand Lodge Officers.

W. Bro. Carl was Initiated into the Newton Lodge No. 1661, on 26th March, 1957 and is now a member of 14 Masonic Orders and holds the Provincial Grand Masters Certificate of Merit in the Craft Province.

Carl was Advanced into the Fleming Lodge on 25th February, 1960 and achieved the chair of W. Master in September, 1973. Since that time he has been in continuous office both as Treasurer and Director of Ceremonies. Carl is also a member of Keystone Mark and Royal Ark Mariner Lodges in the London Province where he has also served with distinction.

He was first appointed to Provincial Grand Lodge as Prov. G. Steward in 1976 and was appointed as Past Provincial Grand Senior Warden in 1989, with those and intervening honours all conferred by Rt. W. Bro. Arthur Morley Custance.

Carl was honoured by the M.W. Grand Master in 1994 with the rank of P.A.G.D.C. and was further honoured by promotion to Past Grand Senior Deacon in 2009. W. Bro. Carl was one of the Founders of the Notts Installed Commanders Lodge No. 1808 just over two years ago.

The Fleming Lodge Meeting was attended by a total of 60 Brethren, who gathered to support W. Bro. Carl as he received the Certificate from Grand Mark Lodge, presented by the Provincial Grand Master. The evening was also special for our new Advancee, Bro. Andrew Gibson who will prove to be a fine asset to the Lodge as he now embarks on his personal venture into this wonderful Degree in Freemasonry.
