On Saturday 27th March 2010 the Masonic Libraries & Museums Group convened at Newark Masonic Hall for the first of its half-yearly meetings.

Hosted by the Provincial Grand Master for Nottinghamshire, Robin Wilson PrGM, approximately 30 members joined the Director, Archivist and Assistant Curator of the Library and Museum of Freemasonry at Freemasons’ Hall in London, who each gave a progress report of their work since the Group last met in September.

The attendees then eagerly proceeded to a guided tour of the museum at Newark Masonic Hall lead by Curator Bro Chas Black and his assistant W.Bro Geoff Tindall PPrJGW, it having been featured in the winter 2009 edition of Freemasonry Today. After lunch the Group was enthralled by a very interesting presentation on the life of Past Provincial Grand Master for Nottinghamshire, Admiral Sir John Borlase Warren, delivered by The Provincial Librarian, W.Bro Bob Hunt, PPrSGW.

The brethren and their ladies were then offered the opportunity of passing around and commenting on any Unidentified Fraternal Objects that the membership cared to put forward.

The regular business was conducted and the meeting was then brought to a close with the Chairman wishing those present a safe journey home, a good summer recess and fixing the date for the next meeting to be held at Great Queen Street on Saturday September 11th.

Any brother with an interest in collections of all things masonic wishing to join the group should contact the Group Secretary Wbro Roger Boylan at roger@boylanandco.com. Annual membership costs £5.
