Night at the Theatre raises £500 for ‘Teddies for loving Care’.

At the end of April the TLC charity hired the Lace Market Theatre and filled it with keen theatre goers, plus those dragooned into attending by their wives, and watched a performance of the Noel Coward play ‘Blithe Spirit. The play was performed by the in-house thespian group Auditorium all of whom performed with consummate skill.

The evening commenced with drinks in the theatre bar which ensured that all were in a convivial mood when they took their seats. After the play everyone returned to the bar for a excellent buffet which had been donated by Pret A Manger and the wives of the committee and others - to all of whom a terrific vote of thanks. The supper was accompanied by a free glass of wine which further helped to encourage the jolly atmosphere and conversation. There was much praise for the actors who joined in the party atmosphere which continued for some time much to the pleasure of the theatre manager who commented that we certainly knew how to enjoy ourselves. This remark may have been engendered to some extent by the bumper takings at the bar!

W Bro Bassford co-ordinated the event on behalf of the TLC committee and with his usual drive and enthusiasm ensured that all the seats were filled. My long suffering wife Jill organised the buffet and she is enormously grateful to the local manager ‘Pret’ who gave so much more than we could reasonably have expected.

The best comment of the night was from a brother who stated, ‘I came to offer support but did not expect to enjoy the evening. I have had a great time and will certainly come again if you do this next year’. So with at least one ticket sold we of course will be hiring the theatre in April 2011, so for details look out for the posters and on the TLC webpage on www.nottinghamshiremasons.co.uk and www.nottinghamshiremason.com
