Bro Wayne Harris and his wife Jane had a big surprise when they turned up at Car Colston for a vintage car ride in a 1931 12/50 Alvis, owned by W Bro Chris Smith. They had successfully bid for the ride at the TLC Valentines Lunch but had not bargained for having to share the day with a cheeky bear who sneaked a ride on the back – see picture. The run started from the Royal Oak pub at Car Colston and went via the riverside areas around Caythorpe further north to the general area of Southwell and then through picturesque lanes back to the pub for a picnic lunch and a pint in beautiful sunshine. Wayne and Jane both said that they had enjoyed the day and didn’t mind sharing the ride with our bear.
Also on the same day W Bro Graham Osborne transported Sarah Dale who at the same lunch had successfully bid for a ride in his 1923 Humber 8/18. She also said she had had a great day out, especially getting to know Graham in his ‘cosy’ little two seater!
