A) Chilwell Retirement !

At the Annual General Meeting of the Hall and Club held at Chilwell Masonic Hall in April W. Bro Stephen Swinn retired.

Stephen has been at Chilwell for a little over four years and in that time has been and continues to be a great asset and supporter of Chilwell Masonic Hall. As most of you are aware he has been suffering with health problems over the last couple of years and he felt that it was time for him to stand down. Steve has been a great ambassador for Chilwell and never misses an opportunity to sing the praises about the changes which have been made. He will be sadly missed.

At the end of the meeting the Stephen was presented with a cut glass decanter and glasses by the Chairman, W. Bro. David Hobson, who thanked him for all his efforts at Chilwell.

His place at Chilwell has been taken by Mrs Melanie Mills who as most of you are aware has been helping Stephen over the last couple of years. I am certain that you all join me in wishing her well in this new role at Chilwell.

B) Chilwell Masonic Hall.

Over the last 3 / 4 years considerable improvements have been carried out at Chilwell Masonic Hall. If you have not visited the Hall recently you will be pleasantly surprised.

The Lounge area has been increased and has new seating facilities, and the new larger modern bar continues to offer "liquid refreshments" at competitive prices. In addition folding doors have been fitted between the bar and dining room enabling the whole area to be opened up for social functions. With facilities all being on one level and the installation of an easy access disabled toilet the hall is now "disabled friendly"

The kitchen has been upgraded with additional catering equipment purchased. Allowing our caterers to offer menu selections to suit all Lodges, Lodge Socials and Ladies Festivals. We have a capacity of 80 for a seated meal in the dining room or 120 for a more informal event.

Anyone who attends our Sunday Lunches will know that we pride ourselves in giving exceptional value for money and the quality of the food provided is second to none in the Province.

Lodges meeting at Chilwell already use the Hall for social events, and many bookings are now being received from those meeting at both Goldsmith Street and West Bridgford. The Hall operates a 'no hiring charge' for Masonic functions. We are more than happy to offer Chilwell as a venue, and are certain you will not be disappointed.
