TLC to the Rescue - Thank you letter

From Valerie Oxley - Yesterday evening our little grandson Ben, aged five, had a nasty fall from the top of a 'mounting block' outside the old farmhouse where he lives with his parents. He fell backwards and hit his head on hard ground and when his father (Simon) and mother (Emma) picked him up he went floppy and rolled his eyes.

Emma and Simon were very frightened and after a failed 999 call set off for the nearest hospital which was in Sheffield, but on the journey they realised they would be passing the Maltby Ambulance Station so they called in. After a brief examination Ben was transported to a hospital in Rotherham by ambulance with Emma and Tom his brother (aged 7). Tom chatted to Ben all the way there to try and keep him awake. Emma stayed with Ben at the hospital all night and the staff went through the standard procedures following such an incident and I'm pleased to report that Ben appears to be recovering well after his ordeal. I have attached a picture of Tom and Ben at our house this evening. Emma and Simon were quite traumatised by the incident and we offered supper and sympathy which was gratefully received! Amusingly whilst Emma and Simon related to us the events of the night in the morning room, Tom and Ben were sat on the bottom step of the stairs in the hall doing exactly the same thing chatting away to each other.

The main purpose of writing is to let you know how much the Freemasons ‘Teddies for Loving Care’ scheme has been appreciated. As you will see from the picture Ben is clutching a little teddy bear, which was given to him by one of the nurses when he arrived at the hospital, and he clutched it all the time he was there and was still clutching it whilst he was here. What a really brilliant idea!

Please pass on our family's thanks and appreciation to all concerned. Thank you TLC

All good wishes, Valerie Valerie Oxley
