Lodge in need of new members
# By Michael Houldsworth on 13th April, 2010
I have just attended the installation meeting of the Excelsior Lodge 7895, being the D.C. of the said lodge, tonight was one of the most testing i have had in my short career as a lodge D.C.
Ten minutes before walking into lodge I was informed that the Junior Warden (elect ) had been injured and would not be able to attend the meeting, the rest of the officers tonight were standing in for missing brethren, includind the installing master. Most of the brethren are elderly but are very intense masons and attend every meeting, be it Lodge of Instruction, rehearsals, commitee meetings, etc. but we are short in numbers. We have eighteen lodge members although only 14 active members and are in a permenant loop of recycling brethren into office.
This letter is a cry for help. What can we do to keep the lodge alive? We are 2 years away from celabrating 50 years!!!. Do we fold or do we fight on!!!!.
What we need are Joining Members who want to go through the chair, who want to be members of a happy, long serving lodge. We are looking for brethren who enjoy Masonry to the full.
Please stand up and be counted come and join us to help keep this lodge alive.
Thank you
